In Slovakia, « PALENKA » is a special name to speak about a very strong alcohol that friends drink when they want to celebrate !
But for us, PAVEL and LENKA, it is the name of the « CULTURAL ASSOCIATION PALENKA » created in 2004 with a good freind Annette’s help to promote the two cultures Slovak and Czech that fill our family’s life.
Both of us love MUSIC and through the association we are allowed to play and sing when we are invited on the both sides of the Bidasoa River : in Bayonne, Saint-Jean-de–Luz, Hendaye, or Lesaka, Vera de Bidasoa, Irun, Hondarribia.
We can also organize evening performances to present the two cultures using films, books and articles in French and Spanish to explain our traditions, folklore, discuss about diferent way of living and we offer some specialities like cakes, biscuits, to make people appreciate our gastronomy….
We have been living in Hendaye for 4 years and we are learning French as well as Spanish. It is more difficult to learn Basque lenguage but we try, to communicate better.
At the end, we can say that MUSIC opened to us the doors of this wonderful country and we like very much the instructive exchange multicultural provided to our family.
